What Is Senior Pet Care?

Senior pet care encompasses a variety of treatment for your pet. Our veterinarian may provide a variety of services in your senior pet care, including:

  • Pet dental exams to ensure tooth decay and tooth loss don't affect your pet early on
  • Pet physical exams to manage diseases such as arthritis, osteoporosis, joint problems, and even vision problems
  • Pet preventative care to ensure diseases do not progress in your pet, such as cancer and diabetes, which are common with older age

Does My Pet Need to Visit the Veterinarian?

It's important for your pet to come in for an annual exam regardless of their age. However, once your pet reaches the age of seven, they may be more prone to issues related to aging such as cancers, diabetes, obesity, kidney diseases, vision and hearing loss, dementia, and other conditions.

As such, it's important to schedule a visit with our veterinarian for older pets often.

How Our Veterinarian Helps

Our veterinarian will determine if your pet needs additional treatment for conditions such as cancer. He will conduct a comprehensive exam on your pet to determine if they are suffering from pre-existing conditions and to determine if their disease is well-managed.

Diseases such as diabetes and arthritis, for instance, can be properly managed using lifestyle changes for your senior pet. A vet will give you the best advice on how to care for your senior pet in order to maximize their health.
